At last we’re no longer following the main roads, but a small coastal road. I had left an inland route on the itinerary at the start, but in the end I preferred to stay along the coast, thinking that it couldn’t be much worse... I just added about thirty metres of positive difference in altitude and... a few slopes : on the climb it was at least 5% and several times it reached 13%. On the last climb it was even 14% (Komoot marks 15 but I didn’t see it on the speedo).
See the description of the route on Komoot
and the graph of the gradient

It’s quite a surprise when you reach sea level to be driving on a flat road almost at sea level.
I’d had lunch at the end of the descent and would have had a Turkish coffee, but I was unlucky and ended up drinking an çai (tea) like everyone else.
I arrived in Sarkoy and just as I was expecting a small ice-cream shop, I came across a café-hotel in the name of my host. He wasn’t there and his son welcomed me and showed me to my room ! I see Mustapha a bit later and he shows me some Turkish specialities !
Tomorrow we’re off to Canakkale and they’re forecasting worse weather. We’ll have to wait and see.
