This morning I’d decided to go through the salt marshes rather than the cycle path along the beach, but nothing extraordinary. It’s just a bit quieter than along the road.
It’s a very busy road, with people rushing to settle down on a piece of rock or sand they know, and soon the beaches I pass by are very full. After Villasimius it calms down ; have people arrived at their destination, or is it the lunch break ?

It’s up and down pretty much all the time but after Solanas there’s the first slightly high hill at 120m with a nice climb. I take a break at the top of this climb. A passing cyclist asks me if I’m OK, yes tutta posto 🙂 Most of the cyclists I meet are friendly and I decide not to say ciao every time someone waves to me, but bonjour, so that they can see I’m French and we can start a conversation if they want...
I stop for a drink in Villasimius and this time I think it’s too hot to drink a beer ^^ I drink two glasses of sparkling water. At 30c each. I don’t ask for a refill because I’m thinking that at this price I’ll be charged €1.2 to fill my 0.8l can ! I can’t find a ptable fountain but I’ve still got my spare 0.5l can, so I think that’ll be enough.
There’s still the highest climb to go, about 170m. It’s not difficult, just a steady climb at 3%, and if it weren’t for the heat, which is starting to become strong, I’d be fine.
At the top of this hill there’s a fairly large area with two food trucks, one of which has the music cranked up and I’m greeted by Springsteen Born in the USA ^^.
Then down to the campsite... which is fully booked ! But there’s still room for a small tent... at a high season price that doesn’t match what I’d seen ^^ But it’s still cheaper than anything else I’ve seen around...
And then I’ll take my second swim in Sardinia with a beautiful beach with sand everywhere.
