Departure from Regensburg early. Beautiful day with sunshine... but cold. A north wind ?
I changed my plans a little bit and cut in half the stage I had planned for a long time until Passau. In fact it would have been playable, the weather was not bad, there was just this strong wind that I often had in front of me, but otherwise there was no particular difficulty.
It’ll make me a cool step tomorrow to Passau too.

A bit Cold : Ingolstadt - Regensburg

A slightly cooler day and also wetter at the beginning of the day.... But apart from the cold it’s fine, I take a lot of pictures.
I visit the centre of Neudstadt an der Donau with the idea of having a coffee. I just find a bakery where I buy a doughnut... the many coffees are closed. There is a war memorial, just like in our country for both wars. Many names for the one of 39/45, from 43 but especially in 44 and 45.

A Good Day : Donauwörth - Ingolstadt

A not so bad day ! For the first time in a long time I drove without rain. Yet my host had told me the apocalypse for lunch : rain and cold. I was probably lucky and I passed by or missed or between the drops :) In the late morning it was even hot before the wind came up and I was able to have a coffee on the terrace in Neuburg an der Donau. Erbach - Donauwörth between rain and sun

The day was promised to rain. During the night the forecast had gone from 60 to 70%.... So no surprise when it started raining around 9am. Then that more or less calmed down, then gradually it was pulling on the nice weather The ride became quite pleasant and if I missed Ulm because it was raining so much then I was able to stroll along the rest of the way.

How to do 100km when I had planned to do only 80, and under the rain preferably : first in a village interpret a little quickly the zig-zag of a sign then do not see a work sign and enter the bike path that ended in a dead end go round in circles in the village looking for the house where we have to stay....

Follow the Danube

That’s it, I met the Danube and I’m going to follow it to the Black Sea now. In Tuttlingen, he was born a few kilometers away and it is for the moment a very small river, see the picture at the top of this article.
Departure this morning early enough, I hesitated a little bit because the bike path I had to take was closed for work.

Weather a little less cold today, but that’s not it yet.
I leave early enough to the Schaffhausen Falls (or Schaffhausen not understood how to say it) and I must be one of the first tourists to pass my ticket through the portico that allows you to see the falls up close. It’s quite impressive, it feels like huge and powerful waves passing you by ! I put a lot of pictures that can be accessed from the card. There may be a little too many : you have to zoom in !

Rheinfelden-Jestetten (6th Day)

A place a little far from Basel. An option I had initially rejected, but I inadvertently chose it because when I booked the first, Airbnb decided to check my identity... And it didn’t work (photo of the CNI, then downloading the app because the photo was not usable, then unable to connect probably because of a problem with the airbnb server...), it took me time and so when I reopened the page I forgot to check again the location...
So from Basel it was 100 km (and some), a little too much (…)
Fifth Day : Montbéliard-Bâle

Already on the fifth day ! Arrival in Basel in the middle of the afternoon and tomorrow a day without a bike, to rest, visit and make the point. Because of the bad weather I didn’t camp on the last two stages in France but overall I am progressing well.
The stage was a little long today but the curve was rather steep so that despite the rain I was progressing well.

Fourth Day : Besançon-Montbéliard

Departure from Besançon around 9am. I’m not hanging around because rain is forecast with even "stormy rains" in the afternoon.
In Besançon a big effort is made for bicycles. The cycle path passes through the Parc Micaud and unlike Toulouse there is no municipal garden guard to tell you to get off !
