Shkoder - Podgorica, Montenegro

22 juillet 2019, kilomètres aujourd’hui : 61

Leaving Shkodër I am fascinated by the number of bicycles. It is a convenient means of transport for everyone here.

On the road I pass a cyclist and we start the conversation. In fact, we had met the day before in Shkodër and she had recognized me. As I didn’t have any luggage she thought I was a local cyclist. I tell her that yes I am a local European cyclist ^^ She, she is Chinese from Hong Kong. She left Hong Kong two years ago. We’ll have coffee together and then we’ll separate.

It is very heavy on the road, fortunately Podgorica is not far away. In the late afternoon a storm will break out....

In the afternoon Alice calls me on Whatsapp. I’m a little surprised and can’t hear well, but I feel she’s in distress. Her dog was hit by a car and died. I understand her despair this animal was her faithful companion for a year and a half, it meant a lot to her. She would like to be able to cremate her dog and take the ashes with her. But apparently it can’t be done in Podgorica.

From what I had read about Podgorica I expected worse as a realistic-Stalinist architecture... There is a lot of greenery, parks everywhere which still softens the corners...
