Departure at 7:15 this morning. I can’t do any better... but that was without counting on the gag of the day : at the moment of starting I realize that my mobile phone is still in the room... like the keys ! I only have to wait for 8am for the hotel reception to open. The guy arrives and gives me a duplicate, and I end up seeing my phone on the bathroom bin. Black on black it was undetectable.
That’s an hour’s worth of expenses lost... as I dread the climb which is quite long.
The landscape changes and there is water in the rios and ditches : we leave Extremadura and enter Castilla y Leon.
I take two coffee breaks, one in Aldeanueva del Camino and the other almost at the top in Puerto de Bejar. The second one is a sparkling water and the owner fills the can with fresh water and ice cubes.
After struggling with the stairs in Bejar (some of them have slopes... but apparently it’s not finished everywhere) I struggle with the online booking service. It’s getting more and more frequent : you arrive at a hotel where there’s no one and you have to check in online. Their application [only in Spanish] doesn’t work well and after 10 minutes they suggest I enter the number by hand. But that’s not the end of it I’m supposed to get a number or operate an electronic key. None of that. After another call to the online service when I’m in front of the door they trigger it remotely. Magic, isn’t it ?
