Orgosolo - Benetutti

1er juin 2023, kilomètres aujourd’hui : 59

There were a few problems : yesterday I had a bad case of angina... fortunately I was in Orgosolo for the day ; then I had some ambiguous messages from booking about tomorrow’s leg, and today it became clear that the booking had been cancelled. I ended up finding another solution by modifying the route quite a bit... Fortunately, as the weather was rotten, I couldn’t see myself wild camping in thunderstorms...

Orgosolo doesn’t take all day. What’s remarkable about this village are the murals - 150 of them, it seems - which were started in 1969 by an anarchist theatre group. Today, many of the frescoes are less political, and tourists come by the busload to see them.

There are other original features in this town, including the fact that it is the last place where silkworms are still grown to weave handkerchiefs, part of the traditional dress. I couldn’t find any information on how to visit these places.

Today’s route is a bit steep as far as Nuoro, then a long flat section on a quiet road.
I pass a cyclist who warns me of something... that it’s raining further on ?
Indeed, I begin to hear thunder rumbling and a moment later heavy thunder showers fall.

This lasted for most of the journey. I got to Benetutti fairly early and was hoping to check out the terms... But that meant cycling another three kilometres in the rain 🤐 Maybe another time...
