I missed the 7am start but 7.15am is not bad after a bad coffee at the hotel machine. It’s a bit cooler than yesterday : cloudy sunshine and a bit of wind, unpleasant when it’s in front of me but which helps to make the atmosphere more breathable 😎
I’m overtaken by a lot of cyclists, and although the route is on a national road at the beginning, there are not many people early this Sunday morning. I catch up with a group because one of them has a flat tire. I get some nice jokes along the way, and also when they pass me a few minutes later... but my knowledge of Castillano is not enough for me to understand. I laugh with them and that’s enough for now ^^
At the moment of leaving the main road there is a café where I stop. I really have lunch there. The owner doesn’t like to give water from a bottle. It seems that tap water is not drinkable here.
A little further on a Dutchman catches up with me and we ride a few kilometres together. But he wants to stop in a village to buy water and drink a coffee and I want to continue. I meet him in the centre of Cacerès while he is looking for his hotel.
About fifteen kilometres after leaving him I pass through the centre of Torremocha and I can’t resist the first café I come across. I ask for a solo largo coffee and a glass of water and the owner asks me laughing if I wouldn’t prefer the glass of water first ^^ Here I don’t have to worry about filling my water bottle !
The last few kilometres are a bit more difficult : it starts to get really hot and the traffic becomes important on the roads that enter Caceres.
I arrive quite early in Caceres and as I finish my beer I receive a text message telling me that the flat I will occupy for two nights is ready !
