The Rhune is in the clouds for most of my stay. It will only clear up a little before my departure.

On Thursday, from Sare, I’ll go to Hendaye via Urrugne. The hills of the Basque Country are quite steep. There are a few short passages that my computer shows at 12%. I end up doubting these slopes but it seems to be correct. The software that calculates the slopes gives an average but the altimeter of the computer would be exact... So the ride is nice but less relaxed than I thought...

Arrived in Hendaye I meet my former colleague Anne who is on holiday with her family and a whole group of friends. The meeting is short because I don’t want to come back too late. I arrive at 8.30 pm but we’re not about to sit down to dinner ! Anna is visiting with her family and friends and the children are eating.

I spent three very pleasant days in Sare with Dominique and Isabelle. As we were leaving we had a photo session with their daughter Anna. I find a lot of nice pictures and have a bit of trouble sorting them out !

The road back is a bit rough at the beginning. After Saint-Pe sur Nivelle I climb towards the forest of Ustaritz and the first few metres are very steep. The meter shows 15% and I put my foot down for the last few metres of the climb. Then there are a few climbs, but they are more reasonable.

When I arrived in Bayonne, I came across a demonstration "for freedom"... where in fact the main slogan was "vaccine freedom". Well no, this freedom is not a freedom. Vaccination should be compulsory for all.

I have time before taking the train, I can eat a "combined" ventrèche-frites-egg... It’s nourishing even if the ventrèche is a bit hard...

Back to Toulouse by train. My usb tracker is still on and shows me the route with peaks at 142km/h !
