From Saint-Denis to Saint-Pierre.

A bike ride along the coast. At first, all the way to the Port, there’s nothing particularly glamorous about the new coastal road running right along the ocean. But from Saint-Denis to La Grande Chaloupe, at least I have the wind at my back and I’m making good time. Then at La Grande Chaloupe, the wind shifts direction, which apparently is the usual pattern.
The beach road is closed at Boucan Canot, but the bike path is open. As I pass by, I admire the work of the workers clinging to the cliff, holding up the nets to prevent rocks from falling onto the road.

I walk down the small main street in Boucan Canot, which has a tiny area to shelter from sharks. Cute, but nothing more.
A short break after Saint-Leu in a pretty park set up for picnics.
A little further on, I pass by a blowhole ; I climb down the basalt rocks to get a closer look at this curiosity.
In Étang Salé les Bains, I find a brasserie for lunch. I also go for a swim here on a black sand beach of volcanic origin.
Then I head back to the house where we’ll be staying for the next two weeks.
