Toulouse - Montrejeau - Bagnères de Luchon

14 July 2021, kilometres today: 40
Kilometres since the start: 1530

Toulouse - Montrejeau by train and then about forty kilometres by bike to Bagnères de Luchon where the French championship for the blind and partially sighted is held.

A very pleasant cycle route to Cierp-Gaud, well signposted.
A slightly steep passage to avoid a few hundred metres of very busy road. I had spotted it before the start and promised myself not to take it... then... I forgot. My speedometer says 12% while the rest of the route is really on a gentle slope...

Arrived at the French championship for the blind and visually impaired: a muffled atmosphere where you can only hear the strokes announced in a loud voice. For c6 one often hears "caesar 6" or "david 4" for d4. Blind players have small chess boards with raised squares and distinctive signs on the pieces. The notation goes from Braille to computer to dictaphone... A rather special atmosphere which is interesting to see...

The weather seems to be more clement. The next steps look promising.
