Stage between two Bulgarian cities via Romania!
We cross with the ferry and the road as a whole is about ten kilometres shorter.
Well, we have to wait 10 hours for the ferry and that makes two crossings at the border controls. The trucks line up on the Ferry. It’s impressive because there are no usual safety measures for passengers: no railings and you can go anywhere you want on the boat....
Arrived in Romania I made a detour through the center of Zimminicea to draw some Romanian Lei and drink a coffee. I had a little trouble with the prices and so I went through three times before finalizing my withdrawal! To have coffee too I had trouble: no percolator in the two places I came in but machines. I don’t have change, the lady of a shop makes change for me and only gives me banknotes. I put the smallest one in the machine I have a decent coffee that I drink outside.
The people are very friendly and when passing through the villages people systematically say hello to me. A few young people are reaching out to type in mine!
Many storks: in some villages there is a nest every 50m.
We have to pass a tollbooth to get to the bridge and a lady waves at us to pass to me and a motorcycle. The bike stops in front of a fence I continue, it was not very clear but we don’t have to pay. On the other hand, on a bike on a bridge like this, it doesn’t look very good: there are only two narrow lanes, it’s forbidden to overtake but some people do it anyway, even if there’s a bike not very far away... and it’s a long, very long bridge.
Arrived on the other side the border controls. It takes a long time to get through. There is a shack with a Romanian policeman at one window and a Bulgarian policeman at the other. The passport enters through one window, after checking is passed to the other guard and then exits through the other window. Mine comes out right away none of the police officers are interested in my CNI...
But we still had to wait in the sun.... Only a few more kilometers and I arrive at the freshness of the hotel:)
