Basacutena - Tempio Pausania

14 May 2023, kilometres today: 40
Kilometres since the start: 1802

After a day spent with my warmshowers hosts of "Lo Furracu" I left this morning for Tempio Pausania, passing by Longo Santo and Aggius the village of the brigands.

The day at Marta and Andrea’s house allowed me to be sheltered during a bad day of rain, but also to refine my route with Marta’s wise advices, to discover the Italian cuisine better than one could do it in a restaurant and finally to know my two very charming and extraordinarily kind hosts. To describe them Andrea said that they dreamed a lot and that they realized their dreams.

After a last coffee I am on the road under a sky that is still changing: sometimes it’s sunny and warm and at other times it’s cloudy and looks like it’s going to rain.

I have the first mechanical breakdown of the trip on the way up to Longo Santo: I decide to take a little break with a worry about restarting on the hill, but it’s not so strong that it should do it. But no, I force too much to restart and the chain breaks. Not very proud, I take the material to repair and try to put the chain back in place. Several cyclists pass by, they must see that I am broken, but not one will ask if I need help. Eventually I manage to put the chain back together with the quick release and just when I’m done a driver stops and asks me if everything is ok. Yes, thanks :—)

Then I drive to Aggius, the village of the brigands. Very nice village but I won’t be able to visit the "museum of banditry", because it is Sunday...
